I don't know why I keep being drawn to Oksana Baiul, the 1994 Olympic gold medalist. Or maybe she's drawn to me -- whatever the reason, I'm beginning to have quite the archive of Oksana and her post-Olympic life. When my friends hear her name, they immediately ask, "Oh! How is she? Is she crazy?" Maybe I wasn't paying attention earlier on in her career, but I never took her as "crazy." You're 16, no good circle of advisers around you at all times, no mother to put the reins on the excesses, money being thrown at you, public adoration, too much drinking, wait, this sounds like Britney. But bottom line, at age 30, Oksana is in a great place in her life and she seems pretty serene whenever I see her, and that's on a regular basis. I caught up with her at the Ice House in Hackensack, New Jersey, where she was helping out adult skaters attending the 2008 summer camp. See and listen for yourself!

Cool video!

Susan, Great interview! It was wonderful to see Oksana comfortable in her element. She gave advice to all skaters! I'm going to post a note about this on my blog tomorrow!
Oh need to tell you about Joey's Benefit... I'll email you about that! But I can't say thank you enough... Mary Lu
