What a day for the United States' men at the 2008 Cup of China! Jeremy Abbott (see right) and Stephen Carriere just went one and two to cap off a great two days of competition. Jeremy skated to a modern tango and I counted eight perfect triple jumps (he left out the quad toeloop) and amazing spins and footwork. And one of my favorites, Tomas Verner of the Czech Republic, who also skated to a tango, pulled himself up from fourth place after the short to take the bronze.
I've really enjoyed watching all the disciplines at Cup of China, especially seeing all the Chinese athletes out in force. The ice dancing was particularly interesting for me -- seeing the Chinese ice dancers try and compete with the powerhouse Russians and United States is very inspiring and I know they will be a force in the near future! It's onto Paris for the 2008 Trophee Eric Bompard where current World champion from Japan Mao Asada will open her Grand Prix season in the City of Love and Lights. Can't wait!
