A bit of an upset in the ice dancing field to end the 2008 Cup of Russia! Jana Khokhlova and Sergei Novitski, the 2008 Russian champions and European bronze medalists, edged out favorites and reigning European champions Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin to win the ice dancing competition. Both teams skated to dramatic pieces in their Free Dance: Jana and Sergei to Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini by Sergei Rachmaninov, and Oksana and Maxim to Spartacus by Aram Khatchaturian. The United States' Meryl Davis and Charlie White actually got the second highest Free Dance score skating to Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saens and placed third overall. All three teams qualified for the Grand Prix Final in Goyang City, December 10 - 14.
