Tomorrow is the big day for the Rockefeller Center holiday tree (see right). Now I know New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg will be on hand to flip the switch, alongside Tishman Speyer chairman and CEO Jerry I. Speyer. (Tishman Speyer is a real estate company that manages Rockefeller Plaza, along with the Chrysler Building and other megaproperties.) But who else will be on hand to light the majestic Norway spruce? Could it be Britney Spears? And guess what, today she turns 27!
The New York Post reports that she's scheduled to appear (not confirmed whether she'll sing), as is Beyoncé, sis Solange Knowles, the Jonas Brothers, Tony Bennett, Rosie O'Donnell, Faith Hill, America's Got Talent winner Neil Boyd (amazing opera singer), and others. My money's on Britney since she's also promoting her new album Circus and will be on Good Morning America the previous day, so she's making each New York City appearance count for a lot.
But first, let's take one last look at the unlit tree, which I find sometimes more beautiful than when it's all decorated. It's a wonder of nature isn't it? The owners recalled when the tree was four feet tall in a tin bucket, and now, voilà! 72 feet tall and the most talked about tree in the world.
