The 2009 AT&T U.S. Figure Skating Championships began this morning at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland with novice ice dance. In novice ice dance at Nationals, there are two compulsory dances instead of a compulsory dance and an original dance. Twelve teams each skated the Paso Doble and the Blues. After both compulsory dances, Lauri Bonacorsi from the Peninsula SC and Travis Mager from the Columbia FSC (MD) are in the lead with a total of 47.22 points. The novice ice dance competition concludes tomorrow afternoon with the free dance.
