The 2009 Eastern Synchronized Skating Sectional Championships were held from January 28-31 at the William G. Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, New Jersey. Eight collegiate teams competed and the top six qualify for the 2009 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships, which will be held in Portland, Maine, in early March. The University of Delaware collegiate team took first place and it was quite exciting to watch their practice and then the actual skate during the competition! I had a chance
to chat with team members Jody Russon and Vicki Lawn, and their coaches,
Wendy Deppe and Megan O'Donnell, about their great program entitled Colors
as well as the challenges of synchronized skating.
