Tanith Belbin, one-half of the most successful ice dance team in the United States with Ben Agosto, can skate for hours. Literally -- hours and hours. I caught up with Tanith last month at Lasker Rink in Central Park for a fundraiser hosted by Figure Skating in Harlem. This is a great organization for girls in the Harlem community that combines figure skating with academics. Tanith skated for several hours with the attendees, giving them pointers on spins, going backwards, and generally hanging out with the over 800 guests. This lady has a lot of stamina! Afterwards, we chatted about her involvement in Figure Skating in Harlem, how Ben is doing (they withdrew from U.S. Nationals in January due to his back injury), their programs for this season, her thoughts on boyfriend Evan Lysacek's bronze medal-winning performance at Nationals, and their preparation for Worlds coming up next week.
