Last Friday morning, NYC's Rockefeller Rink was host to the characters and voices of Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, coming out in July 2009. In preparation for a Today show segment with John Leguizamo, who voices Sid the Sloth, ice sculptures of the characters were brought in as the backdrop (see above). Sid the Sloth is second from the left. The Today show took advantage of the rink still being open by then -- it officially closed for the season yesterday at 10 p.m. (sniff)
Zamboni driver Michael Heskiaoff (also known as DJ PANYC) told me later in the day how he had his first "Hurry up and wait" moment. Mike arrived at the rink at 5 a.m. to help place rubber matting down on the ice. Then he waited three hours until the interview segment was over and helped to take the rubber matting out. What did he do during the wait? It involves lots of coffee, photos of the ice sculptures for the site (thanks Mike!) and more coffee.
