Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder withdraw from Grand Prix Series
What a season it's turning out to be, and we've only had one Grand Prix event! Now 2008 world ice dance champions and six-time French national champions Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder (see right) announced this past weekend that they will not be competing in Skate America and Skate Canada -- they are simply not ready. Isabelle gave birth to son Lois on October 1 and that in itself should be reason enough. I polled my girlfriends with children and they all unanimously said words to these effect, "Wait, she had a baby October 1 and she's going to start competing in mid-November? It takes at least three months to start feeling normal again, I don't care how athletic you are!" Well, the experts have spoken -- I'm certain Isabelle is in fantastic shape and could probably get out there, but she had her own bar to meet and I guess she and Olivier decided that if they couldn't put out their very best, they shouldn't be out there at all.
