This morning, fresh off his Skate America win in Lake Placid, New York, Evan Lysacek came to New York City to perform at Rockefeller Rink for the Today show. He chatted with Meredith Vieira about the upcoming Olympics (see above) and then skated his short program -- Stravinsky's Firebird. You know what I've noticed about Evan? As soon as he steps onto the ice, there is a confident air about him that not all skaters at his level possess. The energy when he steps onto the ice reminds me of Michelle Kwan's -- regardless of how the end result would be, they both exuded a "I'm going to win" attitude when they took their initial pose (compared with some skaters who have the "Gee, I hope I win" vibe). Also accompanying Evan this morning were his parents and Vera Wang, who designed his costume.
