Scott Hamilton was the mystery guest for the Today show this morning! He performed live for the first time in, oh, how many years(?) since being diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1997 and
non-malignant brain cancer in 2004. He looked great and performed to Everything Old Is New Again at Rockefeller Rink as part of the segment. He did his trademark backflip, a double axel, double toe, spins, Russian splits, and much more -- I couldn't keep track of everything as I was trying to videotape the skate. He also used a walker as a prop on the ice and it was just really great to see him perform, and be "on" and look so happy to be entertaining. There was also a really enthusiastic crowd surrounding the rink which contributed to the party atmosphere.
Scott is also promoting Kaleidoscope, a skating show that will air on Fox on Thursday, November 26. This is his first skating special in six years -- Kaleidoscope will also feature Dorothy Hamill, who is a breast cancer survivor, Kristi Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan. Interesting aside: I caught part of an interview that he was doing with a local news reporter at the rink. The reporter asked him who he thought was the biggest headline maker recently. Scott answered: a) Sarah Palin b) Barack Obama or c) Robert Pattinson. Answer coming up! As well as Scott's message to Lifeskate.com fans all over the world -- what a nice guy.

Susan, I couldn't stop looking at Scott's amazing boot covers. I have boot cover envy. Someone is a very, very good seamstress.

Scott is such an inspiration. He has always been one of my favorite skaters and one of the reasons is that he always looks like he is having the "time of his life" when he skates. I'm so glad he is skating again.

I saw this telecast-and couldn't stop laughing! Scott has a great sense of humor-I truly missed him. To him I say: "Welcome Back!"
