Here it is folks -- World and U.S. pairs champion Tai Babilonia at Rockefeller Rink in NYC yesterday. She skated around in flesh-colored underwear for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and its "Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign. Now that the hubbub has died down (the PETA media alert stated that she would be in a thong and topless so that description drew A LOT of photographers to the rink), my unofficial poll results of 20 people who watched this spectacle with me are below:
- 50% thought that Tai should know better than to use a family-friendly rink for this stunt.
50% thought, "Go Tai! Show your 50-year-old body! The animals love you!"
- 90% thought Rockefeller Rink should not have let her on the ice.
- 10% thought any publicity is good publicity (not that Rockefeller Rink needs any more publicity).
- 100% of those polled agreed that PETA's media alert was masterful in drawing in the media.
