Here's my interview with two-time U.S. figure skating champion and 2010 Olympian Jeremy Abbott in NYC. Jeremy was at the annual Figure Skating in Harlem benefit in Central Park and spoke about winning Nationals his way back in January, then a not-so-great Olympics performance in February, and a much better showing at Worlds in March. He's also sticking around for another season and enjoying being part of the cast of Stars On Ice. It was interesting for me to hear his thoughts on the Nationals, Olympics and Worlds experience as a whole after some time had passed. Enjoy! (The event also featured Kristi Yamaguchi, Mirai Nagasu, Johnny Weir, Tanith Belbin, Ben Agosto, Meryl Davis, Charlie White, and many others. See complete coverage here.)
Pairs skaters Keauna McLaughlin and Rockne Brubaker (see right, photo courtesy of Lynn Rutherford from icenetwork), two-time U.S. champions and the 2007 world junior champions, end their partnership after four years together. Keauna's taking some time off and Rockne's looking for a new partner. [icenetwork]
Johnny Weir performs Bad Romance by Lady Gaga at Ice Theatre of New York's 2010 Home Season celebration. Opening night was April 29, 2010 at Chelsea Piers in New York City -- Johnny also debuted a new program called Heartbroken and you can watch that program here.
Founded in 1984 by Moira North, Ice Theatre of New York (ITNY) is a not-for-profit ice dance company which merges ice skating and dance in traditional and avant-garde ways. If you want to see wonderful examples of both, I did a piece about their free lunch time concert series at Rockefeller Center Skating Rink, so click here if you'd like to watch.
