Just finished reading the January/February 2014 issue of the Professional Skater Association (PSA) Magazine. In case you're not a subscriber, PS Magazine has wonderful articles for the skater and coach that are informative, entertaining and always insightful. In the latest issue, there are tips for nutrition for skaters before and during a competition, a great article about the history of the ice skate, how to obtain the proper certifications to be a coach and interviews with coaches and skaters alike. One of my favs was a "Top Ten Rules of the Kiss & Cry" written by Scott Brown, Master-rated coach & US Technical Specialist. Among them were:
5. DO NOT give a lesson! It can all wait until Monday.
9. DO know your athlete's Personal Best so you can react appropriately.
10. DO NOT do the McKayla Maroney "not impressed face."
