During the six months that I've been writing Lifeskate, I've received a ton of e-mail from dedicated skaters all over the world, asking questions, sharing information, and just reaching out (as of today, we've received many thousands of visitors from 118 countries during that time). It's been great to talk to readers, but I wanted to find a way to let people connect with each other, sharing tips, photos, videos, and ideas. We can -- and will -- add more features to the site over time to address this, but I'm a bit impatient, as participating in an online skating community has taught me so much over the past six months and others should be able to benefit, as well.
Luckily, the rest of the Internet is only, say, about five years ahead of me. So, if you're a Facebook member, point your browser here and help me to build a dynamic complement to Lifeskate. It's definitely a work in progress, but I hope to include many of the photos and videos from the site, as well as a lot of material that we haven't published. But more importantly, please drop by and feel free to upload your own photos and videos, start discussion threads, or simply post your thoughts on The Wall. As with the site, we'll being adding new features as the group matures. Also, feel free to send me an invite to become your Facebook friend!
The next step, which we're working on, is to create a Facebook application that would allow you to inject a fresh dose of skating news into your Facebook page. More on that as it develops.
If you have any feedback, please drop me a line in the Discussion Board or The Wall on Facebook, or via old-fashioned e-mail at susan [at] icedigitalmedia [dot] net.
